LDA Sales Office, Wells Station

As part of promoting Harrison, the LDA’s first and largest residential subdivision in the ACT, AMC were commissioned to design a land sales office. This building was to act as the arrival point of the new display village and meet LDA administrative requirements for 3 – 5 years and then ultimately be on-sold as a family residence. The dwelling is substantial in size and every effort has been made to achieve a striking architectural form which is readily visible from Flemington Road. Linked to a temporary visitor carpark the design incorporates a verandah element which acts as a link to the Sales Office while mitigating the influence of harsh afternoon sunshine. The corner of the building is two storeys and incorporates a striking pyramid roof form. The western wing of the building, which will ultimately accommodate the main living areas, incorporates a skillion roof form and raked ceiling as features in what is the main sales office and display area. The external landscape areas have a seamless connection to the main office areas specifically to cater for land ballots when large numbers of people might use the building.
