ZOO - Design Group, Kingston

Zoo is one of the most successful graphic design studios in Canberra. Working with the constraints of the existing warehouse accommodation in Kingston, an extra 300m² was added to the office space to facilitate the reconfiguration of the studio while allowing the organisation to remain operational during what was a staged construction process. The new design provided for an open planned design studio which promoted a team based work environment. At the same time numerous informal meeting areas were strategically located for client and team meetings. An informal lounge area was located adjacent to the office library to encourage research and the exploration of new ideas. The main entry was a particular focus with the project and as the central hub included a number of less formal waiting areas, a kitchen / coffee area and servery for use by clients and staff alike and the incorporation of a number of TV monitors to promote the multi-media arm of the business. The fitout incorporates a sophisticated palette of materials with bold accent colours, natural materials such as timber and super graphic images of animals in keeping with the ZOO theming.
