COMMERCIAL FITOUT
DEWR , Brindabella Business Park
AMC were approached by UGL (formerly United KFPW) in January 2005 to tender for the fitout works to 14-16 Brindabella Circuit on behalf of the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR). The project involved the fitout of 11,000m² of office space over five levels to accommodate approximately 800 staff, and had to be completed by the end of the 2004/2005 financial year. This resulted in a very compressed design and documentation period and a fast-tracked construction period.
The DEWR groups to be accommodated were primarily IT-focussed and often saw large changes in staff numbers from month to month – as such fitout flexibility was a key consideration. To this end, AMC installed an access floor throughout the whole fitout, with all the power and data cabling occurring under-floor, and soft-wiring only between in-floor boxes and the desktop – allowing DEWR staff, rather than tradespersons the ability to relocate workstations. In addition, the majority of the office partitions were fully-demountable, allowing the built areas of the fitout to be reconfigured with ease.
AMC, UGL, DEWR and the construction manager all worked to very tight time-frames during the course of the project, and the commitment of all parties saw the project delivered on time and on budget.
