APVMA Building, Symonston

Purposed designed for the Australian Pesticide and Veterinary Medicines Authority building incorporates the briefed requirements in a single storey building. The sheer size of the floor plate posed challenges in terms of creating an efficient circulation arrangement while maximum daylight penetration to the office / laboratory environment. As such the fitout was integrated with the building design right from the outset of the project. Staff carparking is accommodated at the rear of the building along with a staff recreation area including a volleyball court and attractive landscaping. The building façade incorporates an elegant arrangement of window glazing and sunshading. The palette of materials and colours is for the most part understated with the main and rear entries identified through a striking entry canopy and the use of a bold yellow cladding. The building incorporates a highly energy efficient mechanical and electrical services system achieving a 4.5 ABGR rating.
